Ten General Rules to Successful Modeling
1. Modeling is a 24 hour job that requires fully commitment. Success does not happen over night, so if you’re considering a career in this industry, you have to arm yourself with patience and be prepared to put your best efforts in it.
2. Focus on your lifestyle: exercise, keep a healthy diet (eat more vegetables and fruits, less junk food, high sugar food items as well as processed food), avoid alcohol, cigarettes, and get sufficient sleep (keep those dark circles away!).
3. Never neglect yourself! Make sure you are using products according to your type of skin & hair, prevent sun damage and spoil yourself with masks and massages.
4. Stay fashionable! Look through fashion magazines and practice the looks you’ve seen on yourself. Then invent new looks and improve them.
5. Practice your make-up skills. Being able to apply make-up is a must for a model. But doing it like a pro requires a lot of practice!
6. Work out! A model’s most important asset is their body. Make sure every part of your body is as flawless as you can make it.
7. Be prepared for every casting or go-see that you apply for. Attend as many as you can, in order to increase your chances of getting discovered.
8. Be the perfect candidate: confidence, attitude and personality are the main three key ingredients to make a first good impression.
9. Model agency representation: Don't let the vision of glamour and money make you sign a contract that you are not 100% sure of. Make certain that the contract is reliable and includes the standard conditions of the industry. Beware of scams! They can cost you a lot of money and cause a great deal of distress.
10. Be more confident! If you don't believe in yourself, no one else will.
